Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

It may be surprising to many to learn that we experience trance states often during the course of our lives. Even passing into ordinary sleep involves a kind of trance state. The experience of hypnosis is similar; you are neither asleep nor awake and a little like daydreaming with a pleasant feeling of relaxation.

In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist.

Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness which YOU can naturally enter so that, for therapeutic purposes (hypnotherapy), beneficial corrections may be given directly to your unconscious mind, which is both a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge as well as being the unwitting source of many of our problems.

The aim of Hypnotherapy is to assist people in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of:

  • Thinking
  • Feeling
  • Behaving

Hypnotherapy aims to re-programme patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.

Where your problem is due to habitual conditioning (habit formation), accumulated stress or unresolved events in your past then Hypnotherapy can be used to access and re-programme these complexes which are being sustained and remain active at the unconscious level.

  • Don’t expect to feel Hypnotised.”
  • “Do expect to feel relaxed.”
  • “You ARE in control.”
  • “Expect changes.”

At Burren Life Balance we often combine hypnotic procedures with NLP and in Coaching when working on a one to one basis, on Retreats or in Workshops.
